Ingredients

Prawns (large, trimmed &
unshelled) - 600 grams

Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon

Tamarind paste - 3 tablespoons

Dark soy sauce - 1 teaspoon

Sugar and salt to taste

Water - 2 tablespoons

Cooking oil - 3 tablespoons

Method

Add tamarind paste with 2
tablespoons of water leave it for 5 minutes, squeeze to mix well
and drain liquid with a colander.

Marinate prawns with
turmeric powder and tamarind juice for at least 3 hours in a
fridge.

Heat 3 tablespoons of cooking oil
in a frying pan, pan fry with medium heat until prawns turn
brown.

Season with sugar and salt,
continue to fry until prawns become slightly burnt.

Serve with rice or nasi lemak
(rice cooked with coconut milk) and sambal.
