Smoor Daging Recipe

This is a braised beef in dark sauce that taste delicious with rice and gado-gado.

Ingredients

  • Onions (peeled and sliced) - 2 pieces
  • Ginger - 2 slices
  • Garlic (chopped) - 2 cloves
  • Cooking oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Round steak (thinly sliced) - 800 grams
  • Dark soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Tomato (pureed and drained) - 2 pieces
  • Cloves - 2pieces
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Nutmeg - ½ teaspoon
  • ground black pepper, sugar and salt to taste
  • Onion flakes - 1 tablespoon

Method

  • Heat oil in pan, stir fry onion, ginger and garlic to fragrant. Add beef slices and continue to fry for 2 minutes.
  • Add soy sauce, sugar and mix well then add tomato puree, cloves, nutmeg, salt, pepper and water then bring to boil.
  • Simmer till beef is tender and gravy is thicken, sprinkle onion flakes and serve.
