Chicken Jalfrezi Recipe

This is a chicken dish cooked with onions, garlic and ginger in a rich tomato and pepper sauce.

Ingredients

  • Chicken breast - 600 grams
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion (finely chopped) - 1 piece
  • Green pepper (finely chopped) - 1 piece
  • Red pepper (finely chopped) - 1 piece
  • Garlic (crushed) - 1 piece
  • Ginger (finely chopped) - 2 slices
  • Curry paste - 15 ml
  • Chili powder - ½ teaspoon
  • Ground coriander - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground cumin seads - 1 teaspoon
  • Tomato (chopped) - 400 grams
  • Fresh coriander (chopped) - 2 tablespoon
  • Cooking oil 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt to taste

Method

  • Clean and cut chicken into small cubes.
  • Heat oil in pan and stir fry cumin seeds for 2 minutes then add onions, peppers, garlic and ginger fry to fragrant.
  • Add curry paste and fry for 2 minutes then stir in chili powder, ground coriander, cumin, salt and water, mix well and cook for another 1 minute.
  • Add chicken and fry for a while then add tomato and fresh coriander. Bring to boil and simmer for 15 minutes until chicken is cooked.
  • Serve with rice.
