Pop Rice Candy

 

     Ingredients
  • Ready Pop rice - 1 kilogram
  • Peanut (toasted & skin removed) - 1 kilogram
  • White sesame seeds (toasted) - 1 kilogram
  • Orange peel (freshly grated) - 2 tablespoons
  • Sugar - 1.2 kilogram
  • Maltose - 2 tablespoons
  • Lime juice - 80 ml
  • Oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Water - 800ml

      Method

  • Heat up oil in a big sauce pan then add water in and bring to boil.
  • Add sugar, maltose and lime juice in and continue to cook for about 20 minutes until ingredients turn caramel and thicken. You can test it by dropping few small drops into cold water and it will form into soft balls).
  • Add in pop rice, peanuts, sesame seeds and grated orange peel and mix well all ingredients without delay.
  • Pour mixture into a tray of about 30" X 30" X 2" (preferable make of wood)  and use a roller to press the mixture well and flatten the surface.
  • Cut the mixture into smaller pieces while still warm and before it turn hard and crunchy. Keep in air tight container when completely cooled.
