Stewed Duck With Ginger Recipe

Ingredients

  • Duck - ½ bird
  • Ginger - 10 slices
  • Spring Onions (cut into 2 inches length) - 3 stalks
  • Star anise - 1 piece
  • Black soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Chinese cooking wine - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Cooking oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Water - 500 ml
  • Cornstarch solution - 2 tablespoons

Method

  • Clean duck and cut into bite size.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in pan and stir-fry ginger and star anise to fragrant. Add Duck meat , black soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, Chinese cooking wine, and spring onions. continue to stir-fry until duck meat is well cooked.
  • Add water and bring to boil then turn to low heat and simmer for 1 hour.
  • When duck meat is thoroughly cook and soften, add cornstarch and cook for another 2 minutes to thicken the gravy and dish is ready to serve.
